Jinko Solar Holding Co., Ltd. announced a significant breakthrough in the development of its perovskite tandem solar cell based on N-type TOPCon. The cell developed by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences achieves an impressive conversion efficiency of 33.24%, surpassing Jinko Solar’s previous record of 32.33% for the same type of tandem cells by a significant margin. This remarkable achievement exceeds the world record for efficiency and power of PV products by an impressive 26 times.

“The record-breaking perovskite tandem solar cells developed by Jinko Solar utilize their independently developed N-type high-efficiency monocrystalline passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cells as the bottom cell.”

Through innovations in multiple material technologies such as ultra-thin poly passivated contact technology, new velvet surface light trapping technology, high-transmittance, high-carrier mobility intermediate composite layer material technology, and perovskite interface mixed material passivation enhancement technology, the conversion efficiency of perovskite/TOPCon tandem solar cells has once again been surpassed.

“This breakthrough in conversion efficiency for the perovskite/TOPCon tandem solar cell has been achieved through various materials and technology innovations including ultra-thin poly-Si passivated contact technology, novel light-trapping technology, intermediate recombination layer with high light transmittance and high carrier mobility, and efficient surface passivation technology using hybrid materials,” said Jinko Solar in a press release.
