Ford has announced the Fathom, a midsize electric pickup that is planned for production. The announced base manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $28,350, and the $1,595 destination charge brings the derived total to $29,945. Because the vehicle is still planned rather than finalized, these figures should be read as planning values rather than final retail pricing.
Production is planned to begin in early 2027 at the Louisville Assembly Plant. The planned vehicle is designated as a 2028 model. The planned vehicle includes a 10 kW onboard E-box inverter for home-ready AC power.
The planned home power setup includes a Home Power Station, estimated at about $655, and a Home Backup Power Panel priced at no less than $2,082. Both items are presented as estimates or minimums rather than final quotes. Both figures are listed as separate items from the vehicle price. Ford’s published combined projection for this equipment is $2,255 to $2,737 before installation, so installation is not included in that range.
Ford also plans an active subscription for smart energy management, but the price of that subscription has not been announced. The subscription price is therefore not reflected in any figure in this article. The company references utility workgroup efforts involving PG&E and AEP, along with the UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 interconnection standards.
The derived total of $29,945 covers only the base price and destination charge. It does not include the planned home equipment, the combined projection of $2,255 to $2,737, or the unannounced subscription price.
