GM EV clearance price drops: Equinox EV cut 22% as Q3 sales fall 61.7%

General Motors reported 25,473 U.S. electric vehicle deliveries in the third quarter of 2026. That total is 61.7% lower than the same quarter a year earlier. The company had delivered 30,828 electric vehicles in the second quarter, so the third-quarter result also falls below the preceding quarter. Total third-quarter revenue reached $50 billion, and tariffs have totaled $1.8 billion so far this year. Quarterly delivery data receives close attention because it offers a snapshot of how demand for a company’s vehicles changes from one reporting period to the next.

Year-over-year comparisons measure a current period against the same period one year earlier, which places both periods on the same seasonal calendar. Sequential comparisons measure the current quarter against the one immediately before it. Both views are useful when reading delivery totals, because a single quarter can move for reasons tied to timing as well as demand. Percentages are useful for comparing trends, while absolute totals indicate the scale of sales. The third-quarter figures in this report sit below the second-quarter level and far below the level of a year earlier.

The Chevrolet Equinox EV offers a closer look at how the decline appears at the model level. Its sales were 92.4% lower than a year earlier. The current average discount on the Equinox is $7,734, which equals 22.1% off the original $34,995 and brings the price to about $27,261. The inventory on hand amounts to an 82-day supply, meaning current stock would last about 82 days at the present sales pace.

Incentives extend beyond that model. A Silverado EV Vehicle Retirement offer provides up to $10,000 and carries a date of January 1, 2027. Hummer EV offers reach up to $30,280, and the amount available depends on the dealer. Buyers comparing these programs should confirm the eligibility rules and current terms with a dealership before making a decision, since offer details can differ from one location to another.

Several definitions help explain these numbers. A days-of-supply figure estimates how long existing inventory would last at the current sales rate. An average discount describes the typical reduction across a model’s sales rather than a guaranteed price for every buyer. Tariff totals reflect the year-to-date amount, and they sit alongside the revenue and delivery numbers without replacing them. Read together, the delivery, discount, and supply figures describe the conditions in which the current offers are being made.
