Shanghai Ravioli Corporation is recalling approximately 24,900 pounds of frozen buffalo chicken products after discovering they were produced without federal inspection. The products were distributed to food-service businesses across five northeastern states.
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the recall on August 26, 2026, identifying it as Recall 018-2026. Two specific products were involved: Buffalo Chicken Rangoon and Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Stick. Both came in cardboard boxes intended for food-service operations. The products were produced between July 8, 2025, and June 29, 2026.
What makes this recall different from typical quality complaints is the production method. These products were made without federal inspection, meaning USDA inspectors did not oversee their production. The products also carried an unauthorized inspection mark displaying establishment number EST. 18004. This establishment does not have federal approval to produce these items.
Federal meat and poultry inspection is a regulatory safety system designed to ensure products meet safety standards. When products are produced without this required inspection process, they lack the federal verification of safe handling practices. That is the regulatory concern here.
The recalled products were distributed to food-service locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. As of the recall announcement, the USDA had received no reports of illness or injury connected to consuming these products.
Food-service operators and distributors who received these products were instructed to stop serving them immediately and to either throw them away or return them to their supplier. Schools, hospitals, catering companies, and restaurants in the five affected states should check their frozen storage for these items. The packaging identifies the product names and establishment number.
The USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854 answered questions about the recall. Food-service operators could also access the USDA FSIS Recalls Portal for additional guidance. The agency emphasized that affected businesses should not serve the products and should verify receipt records to identify any inventory requiring disposal.
