Xiuhtezcatl Martinez Combines Indigenous Advocacy, Hip-Hop, and Youth-Led Climate Movements to Fight for Global Justice

Later he became the Youth Director of Earth Guardians. He was influenced by indigenous traditions for his advocacy of environmental and cultural resilience. He participated in global events like the UN General Assembly. He advocated policies like the Green New Deal and non-market-based solutions to climate change.

He found interconnectedness in environmental issues and racial and social inequities. In Juliana vs. In The United States Case, he and other youth plaintiffs argued that government inaction on climate change violated constitutional rights. He emphasized the groundbreaking legal framework and implications for youth-led climate litigation. He brought music in his activism.

Martinez is a pioneer in using Hip Hop as a platform for environmental activism. His debut album “Break Free” is a reflection of his environmental message.
