If you used Cash App and received a payment notice, you may be wondering whether the money is real and whether you can still claim. The settlement has a fixed fund, a per-person cap and a claims deadline that has already passed. Approved claims are due to be paid in October 2026. Here is how to tell which rules apply to you.

Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC agreed to a $15 million class-action settlement over a data-security incident. The settlement administrator's site says final approval was granted on 27 March 2025 and that approved claims are due to be distributed in October 2026. The claims period closed on 18 November 2024, according to the same site. Documented out-of-pocket losses are covered up to $2,500. Other categories cover lost time and transaction losses. Actual awards depend on the approved claim.

You cannot file a new claim now. The site says late forms are not accepted. If your claim was approved, you are scheduled to receive payment in the October distribution. If you did not file a valid claim by the deadline, you are not eligible for this distribution, whatever a social post or message says.

The $2,500 is a ceiling, not a guarantee

Think of the $2,500 as the top price on a menu, not the price of every meal. The $2,500 figure is the most available for documented out-of-pocket losses; other categories have their own limits. Actual payments depend on the claim type and the documentation approved.

The site says approved claims are to be paid. It does not say everyone receives the maximum. Treat any headline promising a fixed amount as incorrect until the administrator confirms your award.

How to avoid a payment scam

Use only the official administrator site to check your status. Do not give bank details, Social Security numbers or passwords to anyone who calls, texts or emails claiming to speed up a payment. Do not pay a fee to receive a settlement payment. The Federal Trade Commission says it never requires an upfront payment before consumers cash redress checks it has issued.

If you have questions about a notice, contact the administrator directly through the contact details on the official site. Keep copies of any claim confirmation you received.

Settlement payments are simple to confirm once you have the official notice. The claim deadline has passed, so your task now is to confirm your approved status and watch for the October payment.
