Western United Fish Company (dba Annasea Foods Group) recalled Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke sold at Costco warehouse stores in 33 states after a supplier found Listeria bacteria in green onions used in the product. The recall affects 3,314.7 pounds of the ready-to-eat seafood item sold only on September 18, 2025.
The recall covers Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke with item number 17193, packed on September 18 with a sell-by date of September 22. The product comes in clear plastic clamshell containers and was sold in Costco deli sections.
Western United Fish Company, which does business as Annasea Foods Group, announced the recall on September 20 after a supplier reported finding Listeria in a batch of green onions used on September 17. The company is working to find the root cause of the contamination.
No illnesses have been reported so far, but health officials warn that Listeria can cause serious infections, especially in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Pregnant women face particular risks, as infections can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
Symptoms of Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. These typically appear within two weeks of eating contaminated food but can develop up to 70 days later.
Anyone who purchased the affected poke should check their refrigerator immediately. Do not eat the product – throw it away or return it to any Costco warehouse for a full refund.
The recall affects stores in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
