Lightship, a pioneering all-electric RV company, is revolutionizing the travel industry with sustainable and innovative recreational vehicles. The company has signed a lease agreement for a spacious 32,000-square-foot facility in Broomfield, Colorado, to accommodate the pilot manufacturing operations of its groundbreaking Lightship L1 model. To meet the increasing demand for eco-friendly RVs, Lightship is expanding its manufacturing capabilities. The newly constructed building, developed by McWhinney, is strategically located in the Baseline Innovation District, solidifying Broomfield’s reputation as an emerging hub for innovation.

The location provides access to a skilled labour pool from Denver, Boulder, and surrounding areas, supporting Lightship’s manufacturing operations. Lightship plans to begin operations at the Broomfield facility in 2024, creating numerous jobs in high-tech manufacturing and clean technology.
This expansion enhances Lightship’s presence in Colorado and complements its existing operations in California. The company aims to showcase its all-electric RV, the Lightship L1, at various events throughout Colorado, including the Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland. The Lightship L1 features a hyper-efficient design with three times superior aerodynamics compared to traditional trailers.
Electric vehicles towing the L1 can maintain their range, and gas trucks achieve their original fuel efficiency.

Lightship’s L1 RV trailer impressed automotive engineer and teardown expert Sandy Munro, who praised its ingenuity and sustainability. The 27-foot-long L1 weighs approximately 7,500 pounds and can be towed by half-ton full-size pickups, including electric vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. The L1 has a roof that can be lowered for aerodynamics while travelling and raised when camping.
Lightship’s trailer is equipped with an electric powertrain and up to 80 kWh of onboard battery capacity.
The battery system is designed without compromises and can provide a week’s worth of off-grid power.
The Lightship L1 integrates up to 3 kW of solar power, eliminating reliance on fossil fuels and propane.
The RV offers a range of all-electric appliances, connected features, and modern amenities for a sustainable and comfortable camping experience.
