Two squishy toy models sold across the US have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission over a risk of serious injury or death from water bead ingestion. The CPSC issued the recall on October 1, 2026. If you have these products in your home, take them away from children now.

ABC Trading is recalling approximately 37,000 units across two products: the Squishy Dumpling (model number 3655) and the Crazy Squib Ball (model number 3984). The toys were sold at ABC Trading stores in Los Angeles and other stores nationwide. The recalled units violate the mandatory federal standard for toys because the water beads in these toys expand larger than permitted by the mandatory standard. If swallowed, those beads absorb bodily fluids and expand, creating a blockage in the intestines that can cause a life-threatening blockage and may cause death.

If you have purchased these toys, take them away from children immediately. These products contain superabsorbent beads that expand dangerously inside the stomach or intestines if swallowed. Parents can claim a full refund directly through the manufacturer's recall claim page.

The hazard is not only choking. The CPSC specifically warns that an ingested water bead can cause intestinal obstruction.

What to do if your child swallows a bead from a recalled squishy toy:

Seek emergency pediatric care immediately. Do not induce vomiting. Tell emergency room staff that the child may have ingested expandable water beads so the team can conduct appropriate imaging for potential obstruction. If in doubt, contact Poison Control immediately.

To get your refund:

Consumers should stop using the toys, write 'RECALLED' on them with permanent marker, dispose of them, and email a photo of the disposed product to recallabc@gmail.com to receive a refund. Contact ABC Trading through the recall information published on the CPSC website at cpsc.gov.

Another recent recall involved Drinkmate carbonation bottle recall, showing how household products can create injury risks after sale.

The recalled toys were sold from April through June 2026. If you are uncertain whether a squishy toy in your home is one of the two recalled models, check the model number printed on the packaging against the two numbers above: 3655 (Squishy Dumpling) and 3984 (Crazy Squib Ball).
