Chinese automaker Geely has officially entered the Greek market with the launch of its all-electric EX5 SUV on June 24, 2025. The Athens launch event marks a significant step in Geely’s European expansion strategy, now reaching more than 15 countries across the continent.

The Geely EX5 packs impressive technology under its award-winning design. It features a front-mounted 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor that delivers 320 Nm of torque, pushing the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Drivers can choose between two battery options: a 49.52 kWh pack with a driving range of 440 km (CLTC standard) or a larger 60.22 kWh pack that extends the range to 530 km. When measured by European WLTP standards, the EX5 can travel up to 451 km on a single charge.

For Greek customers, Geely has partnered with GEO Mobility Hellas, a subsidiary of Union Group. This local distributor brings extensive experience across automotive, retail, energy, and real estate sectors, ensuring strong sales and service support throughout Greece.

“We are proud and excited to bring Geely to the Greek market,” said Ran Danai, CEO of Union Automotive Group. “We are confident in Geely products and their suitability for the needs of the Greek customer, focusing on comfort, reliability, safety and advanced technology.”

The timing works well for both Geely and Greek consumers. The Greek government plans to launch a second round of electric vehicle subsidies, offering benefits like registration tax exemptions for both buyers and those leasing electric cars. Greece also abstained from the October 2024 EU vote on increasing tariffs for Chinese-made EVs, showing its interest in keeping these affordable options available to its citizens.
