Hundreds of NHS GP Websites Offline After Silicon Practice Collapses: How to Contact Your Surgery
If your GP surgery’s website is down this morning, you are not alone. Hundreds of surgeries in England and Wales have gone offline, and patients trying to book appointments or use online services find the websites unavailable. Here is what has happened, and how to reach your surgery today.
Hundreds of NHS GP websites are down across England and Wales after Silicon Practice, the company that ran them, entered administration. Silicon Practice has entered administration, the formal process for a company that cannot pay its debts. The Central East integrated care board said 49 practices in its area had online services provided by Schappit Ltd. Surgeries in London, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire and Swansea are among those affected. The services affected include websites, FootFall online consultation and chatbot services, according to the West and North London integrated care board. NHS England has told patients to call their surgery or visit in person.
If your surgery’s website is down, you cannot send routine queries or triage forms through the browser. Reports say phone lines and the NHS App remain available. Call your surgery to confirm the options it is offering.
Integrated Care Boards, or ICBs, are the NHS bodies that plan and fund local health services. NHS England and the Gloucestershire ICB are helping practices find alternative website providers. Our earlier explainer on patients’ rights over NHS data covers what the rules allow.
ITV reported that the provider entered administration “without warning.” Affected practices reportedly received little notice, with any warning expected to be very short. Reports of the outage began on Wednesday, 28 October.
Can I still use the NHS App if my GP website is down?
Reports say the NHS App and phone lines remain available. Call your surgery to check which online routes it is using for requests and repeat prescriptions.
NHS England has not said how long the disruption will last. We will update this story when NHS England names a replacement provider or sets a timeline for restoring the websites. Check back for updates.

## How to Log Into WordPress REST API — Step by Step
### What We Used: \*\*Application Password Authentication\*\*
\—
### Step 1: Get the Credentials
From the Pipeline file (\`Karmactive Pipeline.md\`), the credentials are:
\- \*\*Username\*\*: \`Sunita Somvanshi\`
\- \*\*Application Password\*\*: \`Tw8Q Khc9 8KxU 5L4O 3Q0s 0w6J\` (remove spaces → \`Tw8QKhc98KxU5L4O3Q0s0w6J\`)
> Application Passwords are created in WordPress Admin → \*\*Users → Profile → Application Passwords\*\* section. They’re separate from the login password and designed for API access.
