Dovetail Collections has issued a nationwide recall of Ceder’s non-alcoholic beverages after discovering mold contamination in multiple product batches. The recall affects four varieties of the brand’s 500-milliliter bottles sold across Canada.
The affected products include Ceder’s Classic, Crisp, Wild, and Rose Distilled Non-Alcoholic beverages. Consumers can identify recalled bottles by checking specific UPC numbers and lot codes. For Classic (UPC: 5 060590 390009), affected lot codes are L4081B2, L4225B2, L3320B2, and L4282B2. Crisp (UPC: 5 060590 390023) bottles with codes L4080B2, L4135B2, L4278B2, and L5020B2 should be discarded. Wild (UPC: 5 060590 390016) bottles with codes L4282B2, L4222B2, L4079B2, and L4281B2 are included, as are Rose (UPC: 5 060590 390092) bottles bearing codes L4032B2, L4221B2, L4276B2, L4135B2, and L4277B2.
While the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) classifies this as primarily a spoilage issue, health officials warn that mold can cause illness in some individuals. People with weakened immune systems or chronic health conditions face higher risks if they consume moldy products. As of July 8, no illnesses connected to this recall have been reported.
“Consumers should not consume the recalled products,” states the CFIA notice. Those who purchased affected bottles should either dispose of them securely or return them to the store where they were bought for a refund.
This recall comes amid growing popularity of non-alcoholic alternatives in Canada, with market reports showing sales of non-alcoholic spirits up nearly 68% year-over-year.
For questions about the recall, consumers can contact the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342 or by email at [email protected].
