At 75 India Should Stop Aping Western Mistakes Th At 75 India Should Stop Aping Western Mistakes

The present education system owes its origin to Lord Macaulay and the British Raj’s persistent efforts to inject western occidental values in Indian day to day life. The previously followed education method where the students went to the Guru or teacher to learn. As the times passed & the rulers changed, the medium of instruction also underwent changes. For example, Urdu was taught until class 2nd during Hyderabad Nizam’s rule in Marathwada. As a part of Nizam of Hyderabad State, Marathi was only taught after 2nd class until 10th class. Similarly, our current day education is much of a colonial hangover. A surge in International schools all over India reconfirms our social conditioning and affinity towards everything western. Even western colleges flock for Indian overseas admissions. Does that mean regional indeginous values aren't good enough for the present day student? Facing the same issues Sonam Wangchuk came up with much needed solutions for the students of Ladakh. …….Follow The Link in The Bio to Read the Full Story.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are dan Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are dangerous compounds that were created by western companies during the 1940s socially for war purposes and have been dispersed throughout the atmosphere since then. As a consequence, they may be found in the snow and rain even in the most distant parts of the world. Guidelines for PFAS in drinking water, surface waterways, and soils have been dropped over the last 20 years as a result of new knowledge about their toxicity. The levels in environmental media are now almost always over the recommended range as a result.

According to a viewpoint piece by scientists from ETH Zurich ( @ethzurich ) and Stockholm University ( @stockholmuniversity ) that was just published in Environmental Science & Technology, PFAS establish a new planetary threshold for unique organisms that has been crossed.
"Over the past 20 years, the guideline values for PFAS in drinking water have dropped by an astonishing amount. For instance, the perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)-causing PFAS substance's drinking water guideline value has decreased by 37.5 million times in the United States, according to Ian Cousins, the study's principal author and professor at Stockholm University's Department of Environmental Science.

⅓ Of The Sharks, Rays & Chimeras Species Are Mig ⅓ Of The Sharks, Rays & Chimeras Species Are Might Go Extinct Due To Fishing

A report by Diego Cardeñosa, Stanley K. Shea, Huarong Zhang, Gunter Fischer, Colin A. Simpfendorfer, and Demian D. Chapman reports that the main threat to the extinction of one-third of the chondrichthyan species (sharks, rays, and chimeras) is unsustainable fishing. Large, easily accessible markets for meat and luxuries like dried fins can encourage the targeted capture or retention of high-value export species, contributing to overfishing. According to the study, which looked at the species composition of the Hong Kong shark fin market from 2014 to 2018, traded species are disproportionately found in threatened categories (70.9 per cent) and are all endangered.

The report's conclusions show that more than two-thirds of the species present in the Hong Kong dried fin trade are endangered, according to recently updated IUCN Red List assessments. Because of this, species involved in the dried fin trade are nearly twice as likely to be threatened with extinction as chondrichthyans as a whole…….Follow The Link InThe Bio To Read Full Story.
