New Holland Agriculture is set to revolutionize the farming industry with the introduction of the T4 Electric Power, the first all-electric utility tractor with autonomous capabilities. This groundbreaking tractor is a response to modern farming challenges, including rising ownership costs and labor shortages. “The T4 Electric Power is not just a tractor; it’s a testament to New Holland’s commitment to sustainable agriculture for future generations,” emphasizes the importance of sustainability in modern farming.

Electrifying the Farming-Tech

The Utility Electric market segment emerges with the T4 Electric Power, focusing on enhancing field operation efficiency. Designed for a range of applications, the tractor is versatile enough for mixed farming, hay production, dairy operations, and even specialty crops like vegetables and orchards. New Holland’s strategic electrification plan now includes the T4 Electric Power, joining other alternative energy equipment like the T7 Methane Power LNG.

State-of-the-Art Battery System

The tractor’s lithium-ion battery ensures consistent power delivery, even at the lowest speeds, transforming the driving experience. Lena Bioni, the product marketing manager for New Holland Agriculture North America, states, “This tractor is a convergence of technology – combining electric propulsion, autonomous features, and superior performance.” The T4 Electric Power boasts a state-of-the-art battery system and a fully electrified drivetrain, promising relentless power and productivity. With a 110-kWh energy storage capacity and a 400V high-voltage circuit, the tractor offers 74 hp rated power and 65 hp PTO power.

Comparative Performance and Silent Operation

In comparison to diesel tractors, the T4 Electric Power showcases superior performance, including 4-wheel drive and a 12×12 transmission. The tractor’s electrified drivetrain ensures silent operation, high torque, and quick response, even at minimal speeds. Bioni highlights the tractor’s quiet operation as a significant advantage, especially in noise-sensitive areas like equestrian barns or college campuses.

Innovative Design and Charging Solutions

Designed collaboratively by CNH Industrial engineering teams in the US and Italy, the T4 Electric Power is built for durability and longevity. On average, the tractor can run for four hours, but this can extend to eight hours for low-energy tasks. Innovative charging solutions allow the tractor to be powered by solar panels, biodigesters, wind power, and regular grids. Remarkably, using DC fast charging systems, the tractor can be fully charged in just one hour.

Cutting-Edge Features and Digital Functions

The T4 Electric Power’s Exportable Power feature ensures power availability on-demand, even serving as a power source for electric tools. “Our aim is to provide power wherever and whenever our customers need it,” Bioni emphasizes the tractor’s versatility. The tractor is equipped with cutting-edge autonomous features and driver assistance modes, enhancing daily farming operations. Features like Follow Me Mode, the Invisible Bucket, and 360 Degree Awareness are designed to assist both novice and experienced operators. Digital functions such as Over the Air Updates, Live View, and Map Maker make the T4 Electric Power a unique offering in the market.

Safety, Style, and Sustainability

Cameras and sensors in the Smart Roof, combined with a modern touchscreen display, ensure safety and performance both inside and outside the cab. The T4 Electric Power’s distinctive Clean Blue paint signifies New Holland’s focus on alternative fuel sources. Bioni adds, “The T4 Electric Power is not just about performance; it’s also about style and sustainability.”

Upcoming Debut and Vision for the Future

The tractor is set to debut at the 2023 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, marking a significant milestone for New Holland. Available in North America by early 2024, the T4 Electric Power is eagerly anticipated by the farming community. New Holland labels the T4 Electric Power as a “game-changing innovation” that sets the stage for zero-emission farming. The tractor’s design ensures smooth power delivery at low speeds and consistent delivery at high speeds. New Holland’s Clean Blue campaign previously introduced alternative fuels, and the T4 Electric Power continues this legacy.

Commitment to Sustainable Farming

The tractor’s design, developed in the US and Italy, is a testament to global collaboration for sustainable solutions. “Every feature, every design choice, is a step towards a sustainable future,” Bioni adds. The T4 Electric Power is not just a tractor; it’s a symbol of New Holland’s commitment to the future of farming. With its introduction, New Holland solidifies its position as a leader in sustainable agricultural solutions. The T4 Electric Power is more than an electric tractor; it’s a vision of what modern agriculture can achieve. “We’re not just changing the game; we’re redefining it,” Bioni concludes, capturing the essence of New Holland’s innovative spirit.
