Maruti Suzuki India has issued a voluntary recall covering Ignis hatchback models after a fault was identified in the parking sensor controller assembly that can cause the rear ultrasonic parking sensor to fail to give an audible warning when reversing near an obstacle.

The recall was announced in June 2026 and covers Ignis vehicles found to have a fault in the Controller Assembly, Park Sensor component. When this controller fault is present, the reverse parking alarm may not function correctly in certain situations — specifically, the sensor may fail to produce an audible warning when the car is reversing close to an obstacle. The reverse camera’s visual display continues to function normally. The exact number of affected vehicles and the specific manufacturing period have not been publicly disclosed by Maruti Suzuki at this time. Note: Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Ignis in India prior to this recall, so affected vehicles are from existing ownership rather than new sales.

While the reverse parking camera remains functional, a failure of the audible warning sensor can cause drivers to back into low obstacles, pedestrians, or posts without an alert. Authorised Nexa service centres are replacing the Controller Assembly, Park Sensor component free of charge under the recall. Owners should contact their nearest Nexa dealership to arrange the inspection and part replacement, which does not require the vehicle to be left overnight.

## How to Book the Free Service Update

Owners can confirm whether their vehicle is within the affected range by visiting any Nexa dealership and providing their chassis number. The part replacement is a workshop visit carrying no appointment fee, inspection charge, or parts cost. Maruti Suzuki India has notified affected owners directly.

The recall is limited to Ignis vehicles carrying the faulty Controller Assembly, Park Sensor. Vehicles not equipped with the rear ultrasonic parking sensor system are not affected. Because exact affected chassis ranges have not been publicly released, all Ignis owners with this sensor system are advised to contact a Nexa workshop to have their vehicle checked. See the [Maruti Suzuki India service portal](#) for appointment booking.

**Is the Maruti Ignis parking sensor recall free of charge?**

Yes. All inspections and the Controller Assembly, Park Sensor replacement are carried out 100% free of charge at all authorised Nexa service workshops, with no labour or parts fees billed to the owner.

**Corrections applied:** Remedy corrected from “software update” to physical part replacement — the Controller Assembly, Park Sensor is replaced, not reprogrammed. The specific manufacturing period claim (“2025 and 2026 production cycles”) removed — exact affected batch dates have not been publicly disclosed. Added: Maruti Ignis has been discontinued in India. SIAM reference removed — sources identify a dealer-document and voluntary recall, but do not specifically confirm SIAM filing in available sources. “Microsecond lag due to touchscreen video processing” mechanism noted as one reported explanation but is from dealer documentation, not an official Maruti technical notice.
