Woodstock Foods has issued an urgent recall for its Vanilla Crème Crowns after discovering they contain hazelnuts not listed on the packaging. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warns these custard-filled Danish-style pastries pose a “possible health risk” to anyone with hazelnut allergies.
The affected products are 12-packs (50g each) with batch code 224934 and a best before date of January 2026. The recall specifically targets pastries sold across England and Wales.
“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to hazelnuts, do not eat it,” cautions the FSA in its recall notice issued on July 7, 2025. Instead, customers should return the product to the store where purchased for a full refund, with no receipt required.
Hazelnut allergies can trigger severe reactions in sensitive individuals. According to Allergy UK, tree nut allergies affect approximately one in 50 children and one in 200 adults in the UK. Symptoms typically appear within minutes of contact but can develop up to two hours later.

“Most allergic reactions to tree nuts are mild, but for some people, they can be moderate or severe,” explains Allergy UK. Anaphylaxis, the most dangerous reaction, can cause difficulty breathing, swelling, hives, dizziness, and in extreme cases, can be life-threatening.
This recall highlights the importance of accurate food labeling, particularly regarding allergens. UK law requires clear declaration of 14 major allergens, including all tree nuts, on food packaging. Hazelnuts fall within the tree nut family alongside almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, pecans, pistachios, and walnuts.
The FSA confirms that point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the affected pastries. These notices explain why the product is being recalled and instruct customers on proper actions.
Woodstock Foods has established a dedicated customer helpline for those seeking additional information. Concerned consumers can contact the company directly at 0787 639 4406.
The recall carries the official code FSA-AA-35-2025 and complete details are available on the Food Standards Agency website.
