Join the revolution of sustainability in fashion and entertainment as the Green Carpet Fashion Awards (GCFA) come to Los Angeles during 2023 Oscar Week. Formerly held in Milan, this awards ceremony celebrates environmental and social responsibility in the fashion world. Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Simu Liu, Tom Ford, and Quannah Chasinghorse will lead the event as co-chairs.

GCFA, initiated by Livia Firth of Eco-Age, is bridging the gap between fashion and film to bring a new era of sustainability to Hollywood. To mark the move to Los Angeles for the 2023 awards, Firth hosted a dinner honoring environmental activists and leaders in the industry.

“Fashion has the power to create change,” says Livia Firth, “Sustainability is not just a trend, it’s a necessity for a better future. The GCFA is here to bring together two powerful industries to drive this transformation and create a future centered around human and ecological justice.

Celebrate the power of fashion to make a positive impact with the Green Carpet Fashion Awards. Inspired by the Green Carpet Challenge, launched in 2010, this awards ceremony honors the fashion world’s commitment to sustainability. Leading stars like Penelope Cruz, Olivia Colman, Thandiwe Newton, Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender have supported the challenge by wearing sustainable brands on the red carpet.

Eco-advocate Livia Firth founded the Green Carpet Challenge and the Green Carpet Awards in 2017. With the aim of empowering the industry to make sustainable choices, she also created the GCC Style Handbook for celebrities and fashion stylists.

Viola Davis, who wore a gown made from recycled soda cans in 2012, and Cate Blanchett, a champion of rewearing outfits, are just a few examples of industry leaders who are leading the charge for sustainability. Designer Tom Ford is also making a difference with his sustainable initiatives, like the Tom Ford Ocean Plastic watch.

According to Firth, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards are not just a celebration, but a recognition of the industry’s potential to bring about meaningful change. Fashion touches billions of lives around the world and has a significant impact on the environment. The awards aim to leverage this power to create a better future for people and the planet.

Creative Director Stefan Beckman, along with a board that includes Bethann Hardison, Amber Valletta, Christopher Bevans, and Tonne Goodman, will bring this vision to life. The event is supported by partners like L’Oreal, Farfetch, Candiani Denim, and the 1 Hotel West Hollywood.
