United Airlines has removed Newark-Dubai flights from the winter schedule and now lists March 27, 2027, as the expected return date, according to route analysis based on schedule updates.
The route has not operated since the Iran war began in February 2026. United had planned to restore the long nonstop on October 24, 2026, but the latest schedule points to a return at the start of the northern summer timetable instead.
The EWR-DXB route covers about 5,962 nautical miles each way and is planned with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Simple Flying reported that United carried 169,212 round-trip passengers between Newark and Dubai from March 2025 to February 2026, with an 83.1% load factor.
Emirates still serves Newark via Athens, while European carriers are also staging Dubai returns across September, October and later winter dates. The fresh angle is that a high-load route can still be postponed when demand, insurance, routing and regional-risk signals do not line up. Refunds and rebooking remain the practical passenger issue.
