Sumit Antil Wins Gold By Breaking A World Record

At Toktyo 2020, Sumit Antil sweepingly won gold in the men's javelin throw with a monumental throw of 68.55 meters in the fifth attempt.

Sumit Antil was practicing wrestling until he met with an accident in 2015. Even after a mighty blow to his dream to become an athlete he didnt give in.

In 2019, at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Italy, he created history when he broke the world record in the F64 category enroute to winning the Silver medal in the Combined Event.

The pinnacle of his young career so far came when he clinched the Silver medal at World Para Athletics Championships, Dubai, 2019 and in the process broke his own world record in the F64 category and he only got better since then.

At Toktyo 2020, Sumit Antil sweepingly won gold in the men’s javelin throw with a monumental throw of 68.55 meters in the fifth attempt.

He improved the world record thrice in the final. Another Indian, Sandeep Chaudhary finished fourth with a season-best of 62.20m in the final. The silver medal was taken by Australians Michal Burian with a throw of 66.29m.
