Outspoken Fashion Wear Made From Vintage Fabrics

Taylor Randal from Portland, Oregon, creates handmade garments out of waste materials.

The fashion industry relies on water throughout the production process for textiles and garments. It takes on average 10,000 – 20,000 liters of water to cultivate just one kilogram of raw cotton depending on where it is grown. With this much water used, the textile industry produces 25-30% of waste material that is not upcycled.

Taylor Randal from Portland, Oregon, creates handmade garments out of waste materials. She has been running a clothing brand called Softpaw Vintage since 2019. The clothes that she creates are recycled by repairing materials that are damaged or distressed.

Each garment is handmade by Taylor at her home studio in Portland, Oregon. She uses design elements from vintage fabrics to recreate some unique fashion. This clothing brand is outspoken yet a beautiful form of recycling. Taylor’s art needs to be witnessed by all just to realise the infinite possibilities of upcycling.
