Two food recalls issued this week by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency affect households managing celiac disease, wheat allergy, or gluten-related disorders across most of the country.

One Degree Organic Foods has recalled its Sprouted Whole Wheat Flour in the 907-gram package due to misleading labelling. The UPC is 6 75625 10414 5. The recall covers five best-before dates: 19 AUG 2027, 01 SEP 2027, 08 SEP 2027, 21 SEP 2027, and 05 OCT 2027. Affected product was distributed in nine provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The CFIA classified this as a Class 3 recall under RA-82809 / CFIA ID 17607, last updated 19 October 2026.

Sprouting does not remove gluten or wheat proteins from flour. Consumers who must avoid wheat or gluten for medical reasons cannot assume that the word “sprouted” on a label indicates the product is free of wheat.

The second recall involves Soup Time brand French Onion Soup, recalled because wheat is not declared on the label. The CFIA rates this a Class 1 recall — its highest risk category — under RA-82810 / CFIA ID 17601, published 16 October 2026. One adverse reaction has been reported; the recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. Affected product carries UPC 6 28250 50659 4, and all codes where wheat is undeclared are covered. Distribution included online sales and Alberta.

Anyone who purchased either product is advised to return it to the store of purchase or discard it, as each official notice directs.

Full details are available in the official One Degree recall notice and the Soup Time recall notice on the CFIA website. For related food safety coverage, see earlier reporting on the Kayem Foods meat recall and the Starfish Seafood smoked salmon recall.
