Airspeeder EXA Championship: Walsh Soars to Victory in World’s First Triple eVTOL Showdown

Zephatali Walsh achieved a notable victory in the 2023 Airspeeder EXA Series Championship, marking a significant moment in eVTOL racing history. This event was the world’s first race involving three eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) crafts, specifically the Alauda Aeronautics Mk3s. These races, held at Stonefield Airfield in South Australia, were attended by over 100 spectators despite challenging weather conditions​​​​​​​​.

The Alauda Aeronautics Mk3, a key player in this championship, is a marvel of modern engineering. Standing at 4.1 meters, this full-scale racing quadcopter is constructed from carbon fiber. It boasts an impressive top speed of 100 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in a mere 2.8 seconds. This demonstrates the remarkable capabilities of eVTOL technology in racing scenarios​​​​.

One of the groundbreaking aspects of this event was the introduction of innovative onboard cameras from EMG. These cameras streamed 1080i live footage from all Speeders via RF, offering a new level of immersive experience for viewers. Additionally, the NEP Group played a crucial role by recording the event as a live broadcast, turning it into a dynamic platform for future race broadcasts​​​​​​​​.
