On December 18, 2023, adventurers Chris and Julie Ramsey achieved a remarkable feat in sustainable transportation, completing a groundbreaking all-electric voyage from the North Pole to the South Pole. This epic journey, which spanned over 30,000 km, highlighted the power and resilience of Nissan and also surpassed their potential in extreme conditions.

The journey began at the North Pole on March 31, 2023. The Ramseys navigated through diverse terrains across North, Central, and South America, ultimately reaching the icy expanses of Antarctica. This was the first-ever successful Pole to Pole expedition using an EV, setting a milestone in adventure travel.

The vehicle of choice for this formidable journey was the Nissan Ariya, an advanced all-electric crossover. Its battery proved durable and reliable throughout the journey, demonstrating the strength of EV technology. For better off-road performance, experts from Arctic Trucks modified the Ariya with larger tires and adjustments to its suspension and wheel arches.

During the journey, the Ariya performed well in temperatures ranging from -30⁰C to 30⁰C. Its advanced all-wheel-control technology, e-4ORCE, was instrumental in navigating through challenging terrains. The vehicle’s impressive range of approximately 310 miles on a single charge using the 87kWh battery option was pivotal to the expedition’s success.
