A social-media video contrasts Madhya Pradesh’s new BJP state headquarters in Bhopal with claimed gaps in government-school infrastructure. The headquarters project is real. But several school counts in the video could not be independently matched to an official state-level UDISE+ table, so they should not be presented as settled facts.
Reporting on the party project has described an office costing about ₹100 crore, with plans reported at different stages as 10 to 12 storeys, a large auditorium and rooftop helicopter access. Those descriptions concern a party organisation’s building, not a government school-construction programme. The precise final cost, floor count and facilities should be checked against the completed project rather than inferred from a reel.
What the school-data claim needs to show
The video cites figures for schools without playgrounds, internet and girls’ toilets, and uses them to argue that spending priorities are misplaced. The government’s UDISE+ system records school infrastructure, enrolment and staffing data. But a valid comparison requires the exact reporting year, whether the figures cover all schools or government schools only, and whether “available” means a facility exists or is functional.
Available reporting based on UDISE+ has identified infrastructure gaps in Madhya Pradesh, including schools without proper girls’ toilet facilities and weak internet access. That supports scrutiny of school conditions. It does not validate every number, ranking or causal claim made in the video.
Does a party-office project prove that education funding was diverted? No. A contrast between two visible facts is not evidence of a budget transfer. To establish that claim, reporting would need funding sources, approved budgets, expenditure records and a direct link between the office project and a school programme.
The policy question remains legitimate: residents can ask whether school facilities meet local needs and demand that governments publish current, usable infrastructure data. The responsible conclusion is narrower than the reel’s framing. The BJP headquarters project has been widely reported, while the education claims require transparent, source-specific verification before they can support a claim about priorities or responsibility.
