A new LMCT+ petrol station opened in Edwardstown on Adelaide’s South Road on October 3, drawing overnight queues and a South Australia Police traffic response. Adrian Portelli’s members-only fuel model has arrived in South Australia for the first time. If you are working out whether an LMCT+ membership actually saves money at the pump, the maths is worth running before you sign up.

The Edwardstown site is LMCT+’s first Adelaide location. The station offers members access to fuel priced at wholesale-style rates rather than standard retail pump prices, under an annual Saver membership priced at about $99. On opening day, the station’s U91 regular unleaded price was reported at 199.9 cents per litre, against a metropolitan Adelaide daily average of around 232 cents per litre. South Australia Police deployed to South Road to manage the volume of vehicles queuing from midnight.

LMCT+ says members receive wholesale fuel pricing, but whether that produces a saving depends on the station, fuel type, daily prices and the comparison price. LMCT+’s own published terms state that actual savings can vary. The annual membership fee is a fixed upfront cost that reduces any net saving you calculate against standard retail prices.

Before committing to a subscription, calculate your household’s actual monthly fuel consumption. The opening-day price was a launch event, not the ongoing member rate. Whether the membership pays off depends on your household’s monthly fuel consumption, local prices at the time of purchase and what discounts are available elsewhere. Compare the expected per-litre saving against local competitors before committing, using current market prices rather than the opening-day figure as the reference.

The Membership Maths

LMCT+ markets the model as giving members access to wholesale-style fuel pricing. The annual Saver membership is the entry-level option, priced at about $99. At that annual cost, a household needs to save meaningfully on each fill to reach break-even against a standard retail station, particularly if supermarket fuel discount programs are already reducing your pump price.

The opening-day queue on South Road reflected genuine cost-of-living pressure among Adelaide motorists. Portelli’s LMCT+ operates across several retail categories — not only fuel — and the Adelaide station is positioned as part of planned further expansion.

LMCT+ has not published a fixed per-litre member discount for the Adelaide site, noting that fuel prices fluctuate. Readers looking at whether to sign up can find information on personal finance and household budgeting to run a full comparison before committing.

LMCT+ has indicated plans for further South Australian and national expansion. The opening promotional pricing has ended. Current member rates at the Edwardstown site can be found through LMCT+’s Saver membership page.
