If you are in Madhya Pradesh or planning to travel there this week, the latest IMD Bhopal subdivision warning page should be checked before relying on earlier media alerts. On the official page reviewed for September 17, both West Madhya Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh showed no subdivision-level warning for September 17 through September 21.

That means the earlier claim of a continuing thunderstorm, lightning and squall warning could not be carried forward as a current official warning. Media reports had described a yellow alert covering 55 areas across the state, but that figure was not confirmed against the official district-level IMD bulletin used for this final check.

Conditions were becoming favourable for the Southwest Monsoon to begin withdrawing from parts of northwest India by mid-September. That withdrawal process — when it reaches Madhya Pradesh — usually brings drier conditions over the following weeks. But local rainfall and thunderstorm activity can still occur during the transition period, so the practical step for residents is to check the current IMD Bhopal district advisory for their own location.

For people across Madhya Pradesh, the important change is that the final publication version cannot state an active statewide subdivision warning unless the official IMD page shows one. Outdoor activity, travel planning, and farm work should still account for late-monsoon weather changes, especially because district and nowcast advisories can differ from broad subdivision pages.

Lightning during late-monsoon weather remains a real danger for outdoor workers, farmers, and anyone caught in the open. The safest approach is to follow the current official IMD district advisory before heading out, rather than relying on a general media count that may have changed.

Is there an IMD warning for Madhya Pradesh now?

The IMD Bhopal subdivision warning page reviewed on September 17 showed no warning for both West Madhya Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh from September 17 through September 21. Residents should still check the current district-level advisory and nowcast before travel or outdoor work, because weather warnings can be revised during the forecast cycle.
