Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao has publicly acknowledged extensive damage to Naval Support Activity Bahrain following Iranian attacks. Cao stated in a recent interview that Iranian forces "They blew the hell out of Bahrain," describing the extent of damage to Naval Support Activity Bahrain.
Naval Support Activity Bahrain houses U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the Fifth Fleet. NSA Bahrain supports U.S. and coalition forces operating throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. The installation provides operational and logistics support to U.S. naval forces, making damage to its infrastructure operationally relevant.
According to Cao's statement, the USS Abraham Lincoln, a Navy aircraft carrier, had no place for its crew to pull in following the attacks. The Navy is reviewing how damaged infrastructure affects future deployments and basing arrangements. Cao said a task force was examining the issue.
The attacks came as part of a larger pattern of Iranian military action against U.S. bases. In June 2026, Iranian forces launched missiles and drones at U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. U.S. Central Command records document these attacks and the subsequent U.S. responses.
As of publication, the Navy had not publicly released an exact repair-cost figure or a complete public inventory of damaged structures.
NSA Bahrain provides operational support to U.S. and coalition forces.
