Toyota Canada has officially launched its refreshed all-electric SUV, now simply called the bZ rather than bZ4X. Starting at $45,990, the 2026 model brings more power, increased range, and faster charging options to the Canadian market.

The 2026 lineup consists of three models: the base XLE FWD at $45,990, XLE AWD at $53,390, and Limited AWD at $61,690. When factoring in freight, PDI, and maximum dealer fees, the estimated out-the-door prices before taxes and registration range from $49,648 to $65,348.

Robert Tsang, Vice President at Toyota Canada, highlighted the improvements: “The newly-updated Toyota bZ makes an all-electric vehicle a compelling choice for an even greater number of drivers, offering Canadians the styling, performance, safety, quality, and amenities that only Toyota can deliver.”

The AWD models receive significant upgrades, with a larger 77 kWh battery that extends range up to 468 km for the XLE AWD model and 436 km for the Limited AWD. The base XLE FWD model comes with a 57.7 kWh battery providing up to 380 km of range.

Perhaps most impressive is the power boost for AWD models, which now produce up to 338 horsepower – a 50% increase over the previous generation. This improvement allows the AWD variants to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.1 seconds.

For the first time, the bZ includes a North American Charging System (NACS) port, giving owners access to thousands of Tesla fast-charging stations across Canada. Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The vehicle also features an upgraded 11-kW onboard AC charger, improved from the previous 7-kW unit.

Toyota has added practical features for Canadian winters, including a battery pre-conditioning system and thermal management system that enable faster charging in cold conditions – crucial for a country known for harsh winters.

The base XLE FWD comes equipped with newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate with kick sensor, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a larger 14-inch touchscreen paired with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster.

Stepping up to the XLE AWD adds the dual-motor system and X-Mode with Grip Control. New for 2026, this trim also includes Downhill Assist Control, Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select System, and a three-setting off-road mode selector, plus roof rails.

The top-tier Limited AWD justifies its $8,300 premium over the XLE AWD with 20-inch alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with power shade, heated and ventilated front seats with Softex upholstery, JBL premium audio, and advanced driver assistance features like Traffic Jam Assist, Advanced Park System, and Lane Change Assist.

Pricing for the adventure-focused bZ Woodland model will be announced later. With these updates, Toyota positions the bZ as a stronger competitor in the EV market, addressing previous limitations while emphasizing its reputation for reliability.
