Mellace Family Brands California has pulled Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils from store shelves after discovering they contain unlisted milk ingredients. This poses serious health risks for those with milk allergies who might eat these treats unknowingly.
The recall affects 18.5-ounce plastic tubs of the round-shaped chocolates with white dots. They were sold in Wegmans stores across Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C.
No illnesses have been reported so far as of June 30, 2025.

Shoppers should look at the left side of the container to find these lot numbers and expiration dates: 55021 (Dec 28, 2025), 55031 (Dec 29, 2025), 55491 (Feb 13, 2026), 55501 (Feb 14, 2026), 56061 (Apr 11, 2026), and 56071 (Apr 12, 2026). Affected packages carry the UPC number 0 77890 49787 6.
The company discovered the problem after finding milk in the product despite packaging that didn’t list it as an ingredient. An investigation found the issue stemmed from “a temporary breakdown in the suppliers’ manufacturing process.”
