A popular frozen dessert sold at Aldi stores has been pulled from shelves due to a serious health risk for people with milk allergies. The manufacturer, Camerican International, is recalling the Aldi Brand Casa Mamita Churro Bites Filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream after discovering these products contain milk without proper label disclosure.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall this week. Look for frozen dessert boxes weighing 7.05 oz that display “July 14, 2025” as the “Best If Used By” date and “01425” as the Lot Number to identify affected products.

For people with milk allergies, eating these churro bites could cause a severe or even life-threatening allergic reaction. Symptoms of milk allergies can range from mild problems like hives and stomach upset to dangerous reactions that affect breathing and blood pressure.

The recall happened after a customer discovered that the product contained milk but didn’t say so on the packaging. Camerican International found that the problem was caused by “a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.” The company says it has fixed the issue.

The churro bites were sold in 13 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Health officials report that as of now, the company has received zero reports of allergic reactions or illnesses connected to consumption of these churro bites.

Federal regulations from the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act mandate that all common allergens, with milk being one of them, must be prominently displayed on product packaging.

Consumers who bought this product should return it to Aldi for a full refund or throw it away. People with questions can contact Camerican International at 1-201-587-0101 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, or by email at [email protected].

This recall comes during a concerning trend of increased food recalls in the United States. In 2024, about 300 food recalls were issued, linked to nearly 1,400 illnesses, 487 hospitalizations, and 19 deaths, according to a Public Interest Research Group report.

For people with food allergies, checking labels is a critical safety step. Even small amounts of an allergen can trigger serious reactions in sensitive individuals.
