Moke America Introduces WeMoke: Affordable Electric Moke Rentals in Five Locations Across the US

The Mini Moke, a post-war vehicle initially developed for military use, has been renewed by a few companies with all-electric drivetrains, including Moke America. Moke America began selling retro electric vehicles in 2016, but with a starting price of around $22,000, they aren’t exactly affordable. The Mini Moke, a post-war vehicle originally designed for military use, has been remastered by a handful of companies with all-electric drivetrains, including Moke America.

For greater accessibility, Moke America has kicked off a rental business called WeMoke, offering electric Mokes in multiple locations across the US. Costs for renting an electric Moke start at $125 per hour or $475 per day, and to top it off, the vehicles offer zero-emissions old-school thrills.

The electric vehicles can be modified for special events, can comfortably seat four people, and additionally offer amenities like a backup camera and Bluetooth radio. However, the electric Moke is classified as a low-speed vehicle (LSV) and is only allowed on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

Moke America’s EVs are custom-built in Sarasota, Florida, with a 7.5 kW continuous rated (15 kW peak) electric motor and power from a 12 kWh lead-acid battery pack. Electric Moke Californian is one more company producing a modern zero-emissions variant of the British buggy, but with a starting price of $41,900, it’s even more expensive. The Electric Moke Californian‘s car is set with a 44-horsepower electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, which provides a driving range of 80 miles and enables a top speed of 50 mph, making it highway-ready.
