Volkswagen unveils its all-electric sports limousine vision, the ID.X Performance, with a powerful 411 kW (558 PS) output. This dynamic vehicle is set to redefine the upper mid-sized class of electric vehicles. The ID.X Performance made its grand appearance at the ID. Treffen in Locarno, Switzerland, from September 8th to 9th.

“Presenting the ID.X Performance in front of ID. enthusiasts from across Europe gives us the chance to meet members of the ID. Drivers Club in person,” remarked Maria Soni Reissfelder, Head of Marketing & Sales for Volkswagen ID. Family. She further highlighted that the vehicle combines “sporty performance with the elegant lines of a limousine.” The ID.X Performance is based on Volkswagen’s new ID.7, emphasizing enhanced performance.

Andreas Reckewerth, Head of Technology Office MEB, expressed, “The MEB offers many fantastic possibilities for approaching vehicle development with a great deal of creativity.” MEB, the modular electric drive platform from Volkswagen, is at the heart of this innovation.

The exterior of the ID.X Performance boasts numerous sporty features, including carbon-made front splitters and rear diffusers. Engineers have innovatively increased the toe by 80 millimetres, enhancing its dynamic stance. The vehicle’s sports suspension, lowered by 60 millimetres with stiff springs, promises agile handling. It proudly sits on 20-inch sports alloy wheels, complemented by size 265 racing tyres. A carbon wing at the rear ensures optimal downforce, a testament to its sporty design. Tinted tail light clusters further accentuate its dynamic appearance.

The ID.X Performance, although just a show car, hints at Volkswagen’s commitment to innovative electric mobility. ” It was clear to us that we wanted to base our new show car on the ID.7 and that we would focus on enhancing the performance. In this way we can show what is possible,” Reckewerth confidently stated about the ID.X Performance.
