Seegene's PCR diagnostic kit packaging: A game-changing, eco-friendly solution for a sustainable future

In today’s eco-conscious world, businesses are stepping up their green game. Seegene Inc., a leader in PCR molecular diagnostics from South Korea, is leading the charge. They’ve rolled out 100% recyclable packaging for their diagnostic kits, echoing the global call for sustainable solutions.

This isn’t just a box; it’s Seegene’s pledge to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG). Crafted with 12-paper layers, eco-friendly films, recycled PET, and efficient cooling elements, the materials are either fully renewable or green-certified by bodies like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Korea’s Ministry of Environment.

Here’s the cool part: Seegene’s green box can fit up to 24 kits, a 30% boost from their previous Styrofoam containers. This means slashing transportation costs by a whopping 52%. Plus, it keeps products chilled (below 4°C) for 140 hours, outlasting the old box by 15%.

After rigorous testing, including seven rounds under the International Safe Transport Association (ISTA) 7D standards, this packaging got the green light. It even aced the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) test.

Kim Sang-gyon, heading Seegene’s logistics, shared, “With enhanced global environmental regulations, it is not an option but a must for companies to use eco-friendly materials. To overcome this challenge, we developed an eco-friendly shipping box last year to deliver our products oversees in the best possible condition. It’s 100% recyclable and more efficient than the conventional Styrofoam shipping boxes. Initial customer feedback has been very positive.”

Governments, from the EU to the US, are tightening environmental rules. The EU’s recent move against pollution-causing materials like Styrofoam is a case in point.

Seegene official, in a statement, summed it up: “In order to realize a ‘world free from all diseases’ that Seegene pursues, everyone must be committed to preserving the ecosystem and preventing climate change by protecting our environment. We will continue to carry out eco-friendly activities in line with our ESG philosophy, which reflects a social consensus.”

In a nutshell, Seegene’s sustainable packaging is a game-changer. It’s a blend of business acumen and eco-responsibility, setting the tone for the industry. As we navigate the sustainability journey, Seegene’s move is a step worth applauding.
