When I was sleeping in the hall at night, I began doing some strange things. This was noticed by my grandson, who was working. Immediately I was taken to hospital, in an ambulance. I became aware of my condition there only. This is the fact narrated by me, a heart patient. This incident occurred on 24 November, 2023.

As I do not have any problem of BP and sugar, I can recover quickly. The heart specialist has prescribed some medicines. I also have to do daily exercises. As I am not accustomed to any sort of exercise, I am asked to walk for an hour daily.

This is, in short, what can happen if one is not aware of their heart condition. Earlier, I was feeling weak and that was due to my heart disease. It was ignorance and bliss. Now I am aware that I am surviving with 20 to 30% of my heart capacity.

On this World Heart Day, I felt to narrate my heart disease experience. In the USA, majority of people die due to heart disease. Millions of people lose life on account of cardio-related conditions.

In 1948, WHD was established by the World Health Federation (WHF) in partnership with the WHO (World Health Organization). The first WHD was observed on April 7, 1950. According to WHO, approximately 17.9 million deaths occur annually due to heart disease. The WHD is crucial in reducing the global burden of heart disease by promoting preventive practices, regular health check ups and healthy lifestyle habits.

When we use the word “heart” as in hearty greetings, we are referring to our feelings which are the work of a brain. But when we refer to heart disease, the physical heart is referred. This organ starts working even before one’s birth and it stops at the death of an individual. One can live even with just 20 to 30% of heart capacity.

Let us look our hearts with better and safer healthy living style.
