The extended property is situated near Sandstone, W.Va., and Irish Mountain, which are chronically significant and are named after Irish immigrants who settled there in the late 1800s. Earlier, the land was owned by owners,private later, but later a nonprofit organization, The Conservation Fund, acquired it, and by November 2021, they will transfer it to the NPS.
