Acura has unveiled its new RSX Prototype at Monterey Car Week, showing off a bright yellow electric SUV that marks several firsts for the brand. Unlike Acura’s first electric vehicle, the ZDX (which was built using General Motors technology), the RSX is fully designed and engineered by Acura itself.
The production version of the RSX will arrive in the second half of 2026. It will be built at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio on the same production line that makes the Acura Integra, showing the company can build gas, hybrid, and electric vehicles side by side.
“The dramatic styling of our Acura RSX Prototype demonstrates that it’s not just a new EV, but a compelling all-new Acura model,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda.
The RSX features dual electric motors providing all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned double wishbone front suspension, Brembo brakes, and a low center of gravity – all promised as standard equipment in the production model.
The SUV’s design includes a coupe-like fastback silhouette with a ducktail spoiler, 21-inch wheels, flush door handles, and a full-width taillight that pays homage to the second-generation NSX sports car. The bright “Propulsion Yellow Pearl” paint makes it stand out at car shows.
