Eighteen Lloyds and Halifax branches will permanently close in November 2026, with the first shutdowns taking effect this Monday, November 2. The batch is part of a wider Lloyds Banking Group program to close more than 240 branches between May 2026 and March 2027, following 95 closures already completed over the summer.

The November cohort covers 10 Lloyds Bank branches and 8 Halifax branches across England and Wales. Lloyds Banking Group customers can use any branch across Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, along with Post Office counters and more than 200 UK Banking Hubs operated by Cash Access UK.

If you rely on a local Lloyds or Halifax counter to deposit business takings, pay in cheques, or withdraw cash, you have between six days and three weeks before these 18 counters close permanently. While Lloyds Banking Group points customers to sister branches, towns like Huyton in Liverpool are losing both their Halifax and Lloyds counters within five days of each other—removing the cross-brand fallback the bank recommends.

Full List of Lloyds and Halifax Closures in November 2026

Lloyds Bank closures:

Accrington BB5 1EP — Nov 3 | Wallsend NE28 8PJ — Nov 3 | Ilkeston DE7 8GS — Nov 5 | Willenhall, West Midlands — Nov 5 | Leicester (Melton Rd) LE4 5EE — Nov 9 | Liverpool Huyton L36 9UR — Nov 9 | Wakefield WF1 1JZ — Nov 10 | Wigston/Leicester LE18 1NR — Nov 11 | Worksop S80 1DH — Nov 11 | Harrogate HG1 1PG — Nov 19

Halifax closures:

Not every bank is pulling back. Barclays is opening new branches in Poole, Bishop’s Stortford, and Beverley this quarter. Nationwide’s branch expansion program continues across towns where rivals have already withdrawn from the high street.

Look closely at the Huyton postcodes. Lloyds Banking Group is shutting the Halifax at 55 Derby Road (L36 9UQ) on November 4. Five days later, on November 9, the Lloyds at 14–16 Sherborne Square (L36 9UR) follows. That removes every Lloyds Banking Group counter from Huyton within a single week—including the sister-brand option the company tells displaced customers to use.

Can I use a Halifax branch if my Lloyds Bank closes?

Yes. Because Lloyds Banking Group owns Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, personal and business customers can use any of those three brands to deposit cash, withdraw money, and pay in cheques. Customers can also use Post Office counters and over 200 shared UK Banking Hubs.

The 95 closures completed between May and August 2026 were the first phase of the program. Further tranches are expected through December 2026 and into early 2027. Customers can find their nearest Banking Hub via the Cash Access UK website.
