A digital seismometer interface registers sharp seismic waves during an earthquake event, a pattern commonly associated with tremors felt across regions such as eastern India after a neighbouring-country quake; how prepared are urban centers for sudden aftershocks?

A modified Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 with 96GB of memory has appeared on Alibaba, according to reports from Tom’s Hardware and TechPowerUp. The reported price is just under $4,000, with Tech-Insider citing $3,888 from a Shenzhen seller.

The number that makes the listing stand out is memory. A normal RTX 5090 is reported in the coverage as a 32GB card. The modified version is listed with 96GB, or three times that amount. VRAM is the high-speed memory on a graphics card. For games, it helps with textures and resolution. For AI work, it can decide whether a large model or data batch fits on the card at all.

That is why the story is bigger than a strange gaming part. AI buyers often care about memory capacity as much as raw graphics speed. If a grey-market workshop can rebuild consumer cards with more memory, it creates a cheaper but riskier path for buyers who cannot or do not want to buy datacenter hardware.

The risks are serious. The card is not confirmed here as an Nvidia-authorized product. A modified board may lose warranty protection. It may run hotter, draw power differently, or depend on firmware and driver behavior that has not been independently tested. No independent benchmark was verified in the extracted material, so performance claims should be treated cautiously.

The China angle also matters because high-end AI hardware is tied to U.S. export controls. The card has not been shown here to violate any rule, and no legal finding was verified. The narrower confirmed point is that the listing shows market demand for more VRAM, even when the route is unofficial and reliability is uncertain.

The next proof point would be independent teardown photos, benchmark results and power-temperature testing from a trusted hardware lab. Without that, the listing is best treated as a signal of AI memory demand, not a tested buying recommendation.
