YouTube TV has added six cable channels to its lower-cost genre plans, and subscribers in the affected tiers are getting them without paying anything extra.

The channels added are AMC, IFC, SundanceTV, WE tv, and BBC America — all going into entertainment-focused plans — plus BBC World News, which is being added to news-oriented plans. AMC is probably the name most people recognize immediately. The network reaches roughly 55 million U.S. subscribers and carries programming like The Walking Dead universe and other original series. Getting it included in a lower-tier package is a meaningful change for a lot of households.

This is part of a broader shift in how YouTube TV structures its service. In 2026, the platform moved away from a single catch-all bundle and launched genre-based plans — Sports, News, Entertainment, and Family — allowing subscribers to pay for the content category they actually watch rather than a massive package where half the channels go unwatched. The addition of these six channels is an expansion of what those genre packages contain.

A few things worth knowing. “No extra cost” means the channels are being added to packages that already exist. It does not mean YouTube TV is free or that every subscriber automatically gets every channel. Whether you get AMC depends on which plan you are on. Checking your specific YouTube TV membership is the only way to know for certain.

The move reflects how streaming services compete right now. Traditional satellite television has been losing subscribers. Virtual platforms like YouTube TV are using steady pricing and incremental content additions to keep people from cancelling. Adding AMC — a channel with real brand recognition — into a lower-cost plan is the kind of decision that makes subscribers less likely to look elsewhere.

AMC Networks reported that streaming has now become its largest single domestic revenue component, even as the AMC linear channel remains a major part of the business.
