Lamborghini has revealed its newest hypercar, the Fenomeno, at Monterey Car Week. This limited-edition plug-in hybrid combines raw power with cutting-edge technology, making it the fastest and most powerful road car in Lamborghini’s 62-year history.

The Fenomeno packs an impressive punch with a total output of 1,080 CV (approximately 1,065 horsepower), combining 835 CV from a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine with an additional 245 CV from three electric motors. This power allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 350 km/h (218 mph).

“When we presented the Reventón in 2007, our goal was to create a truly superlative super sports car that represented the ultimate expression of what Lamborghini stood for,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “This new few-off carries forward the same philosophy of distinction and innovation that is a fundamental part of our DNA.”

The Fenomeno stands out from its predecessor, the Revuelto, with several key upgrades. It features a larger 7 kWh battery (up from approximately 3.8 kWh in the Revuelto), which helps power the three electric motors while maintaining a similar dry weight of about 1,770 kg. This gives the Fenomeno a record-breaking power-to-weight ratio of 1.64 kg/CV.

Only 29 customer cars will be produced, plus one “zero car” for Lamborghini’s own collection. Despite a price tag between €3 million and €3.5 million ($3.5 million), all units were already sold out.

The car introduces several technical innovations, including a 6D sensor that measures the car’s dynamics in real-time and adapts vehicle systems accordingly. It also features CCM-R Plus carbon-ceramic brakes with technology derived from endurance racing, and two 110 kW oil‑cooled axial‑flow front electric motors for improved torque vectoring.

Design-wise, the Fenomeno represents what Lamborghini calls a “design manifesto” for future models. The car features a longtail silhouette inspired by the track-only Essenza, an S-duct that channels air over the roof, and a distinctive omega-shaped active rear wing. It’s also the first vehicle to sport Lamborghini’s updated logo.

“With the Fenomeno we are setting a new, authentic and brave course for our future-oriented design language,” explains Design Director Mitja Borkert. “We have created a hyper-elegant design piece that is as refined and sophisticated as it is both athletic and essential. It is an unexpectedly elegant spaceship, made entirely from carbon fiber while remaining true to our heritage.”

True to Lamborghini tradition, the name “Fenomeno” comes from a famous bull that fought in Morelia, Mexico, in 2002. The bull was pardoned for its exceptional qualities, and the word means “phenomenal” in both Italian and Spanish.

The Fenomeno continues Lamborghini’s line of limited-edition “few-off” vehicles, following previous models like the Reventón, Sesto Elemento, Veneno, Centenario, Sián, and Countach. It also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile design department.

While the Fenomeno pushes the boundaries of hybrid technology, Lamborghini emphasizes that this hybridization is focused on driving pleasure rather than just environmental compliance. Matteo Ortenzi, a Lamborghini product lead, noted that the company pursued hybridization when it could deliver more driving pleasure, not due to outside pressure.

CEO Winkelmann has indicated that Lamborghini aims to keep the V12 engine alive “at least to 2035,” potentially longer with synthetic fuels, showing the company’s commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing new technologies.

The Fenomeno represents Lamborghini’s vision of the future – combining raw power with hybrid technology, while maintaining the brand’s distinctive design DNA and commitment to exceptional performance.
