Mondelēz Global LLC has issued a nationwide recall of several Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwich products due to a packaging error that poses serious risks for people with peanut allergies.
The problem involves individually wrapped crackers inside the cartons that may be incorrectly labeled as “Cheese” variety when they actually contain peanut butter. For someone with a peanut allergy who trusts the inner label, this mistake could trigger a dangerous reaction.
Accidental consumption of peanuts can cause symptoms ranging from hives and swelling to difficulty breathing and shock. In severe cases, it can lead to anaphylaxis – a life-threatening allergic reaction requiring immediate medical attention.
The recall affects four specific carton sizes: 8-pack, 20-pack, and 40-pack Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, plus the 20-pack Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Pack. Only products with specific “Best When Used By” dates between November 1-9, 2025, and January 2-22, 2026 are included.
All outer cartons have correct labeling and include an allergen warning stating the product “contains peanuts.” The issue is limited to the inner, individually wrapped packs.
