Cooperation is the keyword of the modern world. In order to develop any field of human endeavor, people have to come together. That is why cooperation has become very necessary to succeed in life.
At the international level, the International Cooperative Alliance came into being 130 years ago. India is hosting a global conference of ICA (International Cooperative Alliance). Indian Prime Minister ND Modi will launch the IYC (International Year of Cooperation) – 2025 at New Delhi on Monday, November 25, 2024. The premier body for the global cooperative movement, the ICA General Assembly and Global Cooperative Conference will host the event with the initiative of IFFCO. The conference will be held from November 25 to 30, 2024.
India is the leading nation with a maximum of cooperatives in many fields. For example, in each state, there is an apex State Central Cooperative Bank with branches all over the state. As an instance, there are 31 District Central Cooperative Banks affiliated to Maharashtra State Central Cooperative Bank. Only Mumbai Bank operates in both the City and suburbs of the mega city of Mumbai. All these banks offer 0.5% more interest to their customers. Senior citizens get an additional 0.5% more interest on their deposits. In this way, the majority of people select to open their account in a co-op bank.
The six-day conference will deliberate on how to create more facilities in different fields of life. The India Post will issue a commemorative postage stamp on this occasion. According to Ashish Kumar, Union Cooperation Secretary, around 3,000 delegates will participate in the global event. About 1,000 foreign delegates are expected to take part in this event. Doshe Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, and Manoa Kamikamica, the Deputy PM of Fiji are among the important dignitaries who will grace the occasion. Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will chair the inaugural meeting of the GCC (Global Cooperative Conference) on Monday, November 25, 2024.
