Searches for “Lidl near me” rose by more than 2,300 percent in recent United States trend data, making it the highest-rising query in the dataset. The increase coincides with two October developments: a $35.86 Thanksgiving meal basket and a series of new store openings in New York.
Lidl US says the basket feeds up to 10 people, which works out to about $3.59 per person. The offer runs from November 11 through November 25, 2026. Shoppers must scan the Lidl Plus app at checkout to receive the $35.86 price, and they must register a free Lidl Plus account to use it. The app launched in the United States in July 2026. The offer is valid while supplies last, and the actual price will vary based on product availability and selection.
What the basket includes
The basket includes a 14-pound Shady Brook Farms frozen whole turkey and 20 side and dessert ingredients, for a total of 21 products. The itemized list includes 5 pounds of russet potatoes, 3 pounds of sweet potatoes, 3 pounds of yellow onions, 2 pounds of baby carrots, celery, 2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, French’s fried onions, 2 boxes of stuffing, 2 boxes of mac and cheese, chicken broth, 2 packets of gravy, 2 cans of cranberry sauce, Hawaiian sweet rolls, 100% pure pumpkin, evaporated milk, pie crust dough, mini marshmallows, whipped topping, and poultry seasoning.
Price-match guarantee and exclusions
Lidl’s “Never Be Beaten” guarantee compares the basket’s total against comparable Walmart and Aldi baskets. The guarantee comes with limits that appear in the company’s footnoted terms. Orders placed through Instacart or other third-party delivery services do not qualify for the $35.86 price. Wholesale clubs are also excluded from the price-match promise.
Each Lidl Plus account is limited to one Thanksgiving basket, and Lidl does not offer rainchecks if items sell out. Because rainchecks are not offered, shoppers who wait until Thanksgiving week may find items unavailable.
Lidl is also offering a December reward. Shoppers who make qualifying weekly purchases in November through Lidl Plus can earn up to $25 in bonus rewards redeemable in December. Lidl is also reducing prices on 100 items each week in November.
How the price compares with Aldi
Lidl says its basket is about $3.14 less than Aldi’s 10-person meal, which Aldi lists at under $39 with no membership required. The two meals differ in turkey size: Aldi’s includes a 16-pound turkey, while Lidl’s includes a 14-pound bird. Shoppers comparing totals may wish to weigh the difference in turkey size against the price.
New stores in New York and the Northeast
Recent openings include a store in Chelsea, Manhattan, at 335 8th Avenue, along with locations in Staten Island, Tappan, and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With these additions, New York has 41 stores, and Lidl’s US total is past 200 locations across nine East Coast states and Washington, D.C.
All Lidl US stores close on Thanksgiving Day, and every Lidl US employee receives a free turkey in addition to a 10 percent employee discount.
