Which Gelatelli gelato is recalled at Lidl? Lidl US has recalled one lot of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces, sold in 1-pint (16 FL OZ) clear plastic tubs with brown lids. The recall is limited to a single lot: Lot 085261, with a Best By date of March 26, 2028, and UPC 4056489722458, both printed on the bottom of the container.
The affected gelato was sold at Lidl stores between July 19 and October 15, 2026, in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Lidl identified the problem through its own routine company testing, which detected Listeria monocytogenes in a sample of the product. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this lot.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious infections in older adults, young children, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women, for whom infection can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth. Healthy people who are exposed may experience fever, muscle aches, and digestive symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea, though some infections produce no noticeable illness at all. Symptoms can appear anywhere from a few days to several weeks after eating a contaminated product, which is part of why testing, rather than reported illness, is often what catches a problem like this one.
Keeping the gelato frozen does not make it safe to eat. Freezing slows or stops bacterial growth, but it does not kill Listeria that is already present in a product. A tub from the recalled lot carries the same risk whether it has been sitting in a freezer for one day or several months, so storage time by itself does not change whether the product should be eaten.
Customers who have Lot 085261 of this gelato, with the March 26, 2028 best-by date, should not eat it. Lidl is asking shoppers to return the product to any Lidl store for a full refund. Questions about the recall can be directed to Lidl’s customer care line at (844) 747-5435, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern.
No other Gelatelli flavors and no other lots of this same gelato are affected by this recall. Shoppers who still have the product in their freezer should check the lot number and best-by date printed on the bottom of the tub against the information above before deciding whether their container matches the recalled batch.
