Australian Flight Bonanza: Jetstar and Qantas Drop 2.4 Million Discounted Fares

Jetstar and Qantas have launched overlapping sales within 24 hours, offering a combined 2.425 million discounted fares across domestic and international routes.

Jetstar’s Get Onboard Sale covers 225,000 fares from $34 one-way. Key routes include Sydney to Ballina from $34, Adelaide to Melbourne from $39, and Perth to Bali from $144. Gold Coast to Wellington starts at $197, and Melbourne to Colombo from $319. Travel is available between September 2026 and June 2027. Club Jetstar members get 12-hour exclusive access from midday AEST on Wednesday, with public access opening at midnight until Monday or until sold out. The sale ends at 11.59pm AEST on 24 August 2026.

Qantas’s Red Tail Sale puts more than two million seats on sale across 101 routes and 60 destinations. Economy fares start from $99 one-way. From Perth, one-way fares include $249 to Darwin, $279 to Adelaide, $299 to Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney, $169 to Geraldton, $249 to Broome, and $199 to Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Business class from Perth starts at $849 to Brisbane, $899 to Melbourne, and $999 to Canberra, the Gold Coast or Sydney. The sale runs until 11.59pm on 25 August 2026. All Qantas sale fares include checked baggage, snacks and drinks.

A new route appears in the Qantas sale: Western Sydney International Airport to Brisbane and Melbourne from $99 one-way. These flights are scheduled to start on 28 March 2027, subject to government and regulatory approval.

The two sales together cover peak periods including Christmas, New Year, and both summer and winter school holidays.
