Kraft Heinz Foods Company has recalled nearly 368,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon due to possible listeria contamination. The recall, announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on July 2, 2025, covers fully cooked turkey bacon products made at the company’s Newberry, South Carolina facility.

The potential contamination was discovered through the company’s own laboratory testing, and so far, no illnesses have been reported. The affected products were produced between April 24 and June 11, 2025, and shipped to stores nationwide, plus exported to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.

Consumers should check their refrigerators and freezers for three specific product sizes:

  • 12-oz. packages of “Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL” with UPC 071871548601, use-by dates from July 18 to August 2, 2025, and lot code RS40
  • 36-oz. packages (containing three 12-oz. packages) with UPC 071871548748, use-by dates from July 23 to September 4, 2025, and lot codes RS19, RS40, or RS42
  • 48-oz. packages (containing four 12-oz. packages) with UPC 071871548793, use-by dates from July 18 to September 4, 2025, and lot codes RS19, RS40, or RS42

All recalled products have the USDA mark of inspection on the front label. If you find these products, do not eat them. Either throw them away or return them to the store for a refund.

Listeria can cause serious infections, especially in vulnerable groups. While healthy people may experience only short-term symptoms like fever, headaches, stiffness, and digestive issues, the bacteria poses greater risks to pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

For pregnant women, listeria infections can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, or life-threatening infections in newborns. According to the CDC, approximately 1,600 people get sick from listeria annually in the United States, with about 260 deaths.

A Kraft Heinz spokesperson emphasized, “Nothing matters more to us than the safety of our products and the well-being of the families who trust them.”
