Bell Sports has recalled about 31,200 bicycle helmets in the United States and 480 in Canada because they don’t meet federal safety standards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on June 26, 2025.

The recall involves several models of both children’s and adult helmets. The affected children’s models include Axle, Cadence, Rev, and Frenzy, while adult models include Cadence and Passage. These helmets have model numbers B0605Y, B0605C, or B0494Y, which can be found on a sticker inside the helmet along with the manufacture date.

According to the CPSC, “The helmets can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.” Specifically, the helmets don’t comply with the impact requirements of the mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmets.

The recalled helmets were sold nationwide at major retailers including Walmart, Target, and Academy Sports+ Outdoors, as well as online through Amazon, Target.com, FredMeyer.com, and Academy.com. They were available from September 2024 through May 2025 and cost about $20.
