The a2 Milk Company has issued an urgent recall for its 2L a2 Light Milk sold in Western Australia after tests revealed possible Listeria contamination. The affected products are marked with “Use by 06/06 #41” and were sold at major retailers including Woolworths, Coles, and Aldi.
Health officials are concerned about the potential for severe illness, particularly in vulnerable groups. Pregnant women, newborns, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems face the highest risk from Listeria infection, though anyone can become sick after consuming contaminated food.
“Consumers should not eat this product,” warns Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) in its official recall notice. “Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”
