British pop singer Jessie J has announced she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The “Bang Bang” and “Price Tag” singer shared the news in an emotional Instagram video that quickly drew support from fans and fellow celebrities worldwide.
“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” Jessie J said in her announcement. “I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word early.”
The 37-year-old singer, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, revealed she had been keeping the diagnosis private for nine weeks before deciding to share it publicly. The news came around the same time she released her single “No Secrets” in late April, creating what she described as an ironic timing situation.
“To get diagnosed with this, as I’m putting out a song called ‘No Secrets’ right before a song called ‘Living My Best Life,’ which was all pre-planned before I found out about this. I mean, you can’t make it up,” she said.
Despite the serious nature of her diagnosis, Jessie J has maintained her sense of humor. She joked about her upcoming surgery saying, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job,” and even quipped in her Instagram caption, “Is it too soon to do a remix called ‘Living my breast life’?”
The singer plans to undergo surgery after performing at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on June 15. “I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery,” she explained, adding that she would return with “massive tits and more music.”

In her Instagram story, Jessie J expressed her need for emotional support during this challenging time: “Honestly, I need to process it and talk about it, I need a hug.” She explained that sharing her experience helps her process the diagnosis while also potentially helping others.
“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people, giving me their love and support and also their own stories,” she said.
This isn’t the first health challenge Jessie J has faced publicly. Previous reports mention her dealing with other health issues including a heart condition, stroke, temporary deafness, and a miscarriage in 2021.
The singer is mother to a young son born in May 2023, whom she shares with her boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman, a retired Danish-Israeli basketball player.

Medical experts note that early detection of breast cancer significantly improves treatment outcomes. While Jessie J hasn’t shared specific details about her treatment plan beyond the upcoming surgery, her emphasis on the “early” nature of her diagnosis suggests a positive outlook.
Her scheduled European and UK “No Secrets Tour 2025” is still set to begin in late summer, starting in Amsterdam, according to her website.
