Paramount Global chair Shari Redstone, 71, is battling thyroid cancer while steering her company through major changes. Her spokesperson shared that doctors found the cancer this spring after Redstone felt unusually tired.
Doctors removed her thyroid gland in May, but some cancer cells had already reached her vocal cords. She’s now getting radiation treatment. Despite these health challenges, she’s keeping up with her work and charity activities. Her doctors expect her to recover well.
“She and her family are grateful that her prognosis is excellent,” said Molly Morse, Redstone’s spokesperson.
This health news comes at a busy time for Redstone. She’s working to complete an $8 billion deal with Skydance Media that would end her family’s control of Paramount. The merger includes selling National Amusements, her family’s company, for $2.4 billion and a $6 billion investment in Paramount shares. The deal still needs government approval.
